In early 2022 Second Intention Farm harvested timber on the property for the first time in many decades. Among the 200 trees harvested were 14 mature white oaks. These trees were sent to S&S Stave Company in Kentucky to be made into staves and, later on, barrels, for Engineered Spirits’ whiskey and brandy products.
These barrels will become one of the farm’s first value-added products to be sold to the distillery, but, beyond that, they are a statement of our belief in using locally sourced resources to make our products as much as possible.
Our corn, our water, our wood. 100% our whiskey. You can’t get any more local than that.
